One man is dead and three other men are injured after an illegal street race crash early Wednesday morning in East Oakland.
According to authorities, a Toyota Corolla was racing southbound on 98th Avenue with another vehicle, when it lost control.
The Toyota went across to the northbound lanes and slammed into a tree in front of a home.
The man killed was a 23-years-old Hayward resident. He was the passenger in the Toyota and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the wrecked vehicle and two other passengers in the other vehicle involved were taken to a nearby hospital. Their condition is unknown.
It was unclear if the the men were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.
Police authorities were also investigating if the cars involved were at sideshow earlier on International Boulevard.
Authorities are investigating if they were any factors that contributed to the crash. They are asking for those who have any information to call the police at 510-777-8570.
