Early Tuesday morning an apartment balcony collapsed killing six people and seriously injuring several others.
The accident occurred at the Library Gardens Apartment complex on the 4th floor at around 12:40 a.m.
Initially five people were killed and eight others were seriously injured and taken to the hospital, but an update on the case presented that six people were killed.
All the victims involved were Irish citizens.
The victims were students and in the United States on a J-1 visa which allows students to study and work for a short period of time in the country.
Berkeley police say that it is unknown what caused the apartment balcony to collapse.
California authorities have contacted some of the victims families in Ireland about the collapse.
