City Officials Kick Off ‘Bike Week LA’

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation officials will kick off “Bike Week LA” beginning this week.

Officials of Metro, LADOT, Caltrans, Metrolink, Good Samaritan Hospital, CicLAvia, L.A. County Bicycle Coalition, and C.I.C.L.E. gathered at 10 a.m. Monday morning, May 11th, to announce ways to make L.A. county more bike-friendly.Bike Week LA

The announcement included topics such as:

  • New Metro bike campaign
  • Bicycle safety education classes
  • Bicycle hubs
  • Triple bike racks on Metro buses
  • Free rides all week for all bicyclists
  • New Caltrans statewide Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan
  • LADOT’s city bikeway update
  • New data from Los Angeles Country Bicycle Coalition’s

The launch of  ‘Bike Week LA’ is to encourage more people to try bicycling to reduce the amount of emissions and promote a more sustainable form of transportation.


Bicycling is a great form of sustainable transportation and even greater that larger cities such as Los Angeles are now taking part to encourage bicycling and creating a bike friendly environment.
