A Costco was evacuated after hazmat team responded to a hazardous material spill in Burbank on Thursday.
The incident occurred around 4:10 p.m. when Burbank Fire Department to the Costco located on 1051 W. Burbank Blvd. near the 5 Freeway.
According to the Burbank Fire Department, the response was due to freon that is used in the refrigerant used in the air conditioning systems.
Shoppers in the store heard a loud bang and then began rushing toward the exits.
Multiple Fire Department vehicles were one the scene.
No one was allowed on the store property and was blocked off by police.
The refrigeration repair company was expected to fix the system overnight. The store is set to open for normal business hours the next day.
