Driver in Fatal Car Accident Had Been Under The Influence Before Crash In San Diego

The driver involved in a double fatal car accident had been taking shots of alcohol and smoking marijuana before the collision early Sunday morning.

The crash occurred around 4:55 a.m. on Wildcat Canyon Road near Barona Casino in Lakeside, when two vehicles collided head-on.

One of the drivers had been drinking and swerved into the other lanes, crashing into the oncoming vehicle.Fatal car accident, driving under the influence

According to CHP officers there were five people involved in the accident.

The driver of a Toyota Camry was seriously injured and has been in and out of surgery since arriving at the hospital.

The driver and passenger in a Saturn were killed in the crash.

The surviving passengers in both vehicles were seriously injured and transported to nearby hospitals.

Authorities claim that Wildcat Canyon Road wouldn’t be considered a dangerous road, but there is a lot of activity that goes on such as people drinking and driving or partaking in any other form of distracted driving.

The County had recently constructed rumble strips and widened lanes to create safer roads.

The crash is under investigation.
