Driver Killed After Rolling Down Embankment on Highway 237 in Santa Clara

rolling-down-embankmentA man in his 20’s was killed after rolling down an embankment on Highway 237 in Santa Clara.

The incident occurred around noon when the male driver in a gray Toyota Tundra traveling westbound was sideswiped by a white pickup truck where the freeways cross over at Gold and Lafayette Streets.

The collision caused the Tundra to veer off to the right shoulder where it hit a barrier wall, flipped over, and rolled down the embankment.

Emergency crews were forced to extricate a passenger in the car, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger suffered minor injuries and was treated at a nearby hospital.

According to reports, the other involved vehicle remained on the scene and was cooperating with authorities.

Neither drugs or alcohol were a factor in the accident.

The crash is still under investigation.
