Driver Killed in Fiery Crash On SR-163 in San Diego

Fiery crashA driver in a BMW was killed in a fiery crash along the SR-163 in San Diego.

The incident occurred a little after 3 a.m. when a the male driver struck a highway sign and crashed into a bridge pillar head-on of of the Carillo Bridge at Laurel Street.

The driver failed to turn on the northbound SR-163 leading him to run into pillar.

Witnesses were able to pull the driver out of the vehicle just before the car burst into flames.

However, the witnesses claimed the driver was already unconscious when he was pulled out of the vehicle.

The victim was transported to Mercy Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

CHP officers claim that alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the accident.
