A fatal crash shut down SB 405 in Lawndale early Wednesday morning.
Initial reports explained a big rig slammed a car into the freeway wall at around 4:15 am at Hawthorne Boulevard on the 405 Freeway.
When California Highway Patrol arrived on the scene a body could be seen lying in the traffic lanes. The driver was pronounced dead on the scene.
CHP has closed all lanes to investigate the cause of the accident.
Rush hour traffic continued to back up the freeway and surface streets. Officers diverted traffic to Hawthorne Boulevard until about 8 a.m. The lanes have been reopened.
On the other side of the freeway on the northbound 405, a motorcycle accident in Inglewood closed the carpool and left lane at 6:00 am. The accident has since been cleared.
