In the early hours of Tuesday, a San Diego police patrol car tried to pull over a Ford Mustang on El Cajon Boulevard for expired tags. As officers approached the vehicle, the driver sped off, driving wrong-way down 43rd Street.
Just a few minutes later the driver crashed while navigating the I-8 College Avenue onramp. He fled the scene on foot, leaving behind his female passenger. Police are asking the public for assistance in identifying the driver.
We hope the innocent passenger didn’t sustain any serious injuries in the crash. It’s very dangerous to evade police. Police chases put everyone in the surrounding area at risk. Fortunately in this case, the driver didn’t collide with another vehicle.
