Two Metro buses collided this morning in Pico-Union, west of Downtown. Both buses had passengers on board at the time of the crash. Initial reports stated only nine people were injured.
However, according to the latest report from the Los Angeles Fire Department, up to twenty-four people have been evacuated from the scene of the accident.
Anyone with injuries was transported to local hospitals. Both two bus drivers are among those hurt. According to first responders, no one suffered life-threatening injures.
The circumstances of the accident are still under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department Traffic Division. It is not immediately clear whether drugs, alcohol, or distracted driving led to the collision.
Pico-Union is a densely populated area of LA. Many people rely on city transport to get back and forth from work. The crash occurred just before nine, a peak travel time for Metro buses.
