On Monday evening a motorcyclist was hospitalized after an impromptu wheelie led to a crash in San Diego.
The collision occurred shortly before 10 p.m. on South 32nd Street.
According to San Diego Police, the male rider, 23, ran a red like at Oceanview Boulevard at a high rate of speed.
Soon after he ran the red light he pulled a wheelie.
The motorcycle’s head lights blinded an oncoming sedan and collided with the driver.
The motorcyclists suffered major head and body trauma.
Officials are considering the rider’s injuries to be life threatening.
Speeding is the third leading cause for fatal car accidents each year. Especially speeding on a motorcycle increases the risks accidents. Performing impromptu tricks are even more dangerous.
