Young Boy Killed in Hit-And-Run Accident In Orange

hit-and-run accident.jpgA 9-year-old boy was struck and killed in a hit-and-run accident in Orange Thursday night.

The accident occurred near the intersection of North Glassell Street and East Taft Avenue around 9:30 p.m.

A driver of a black Ford pick up truck struck the boy and drove off, but crashed onto the railroad tracks.

Apparently, witnesses at the scene followed the pick up and may have used a pit maneuver which lead the truck to crash onto the railroad tracks.

The young boy was transported to a local hospital, but was later pronounced dead.

Orange Police Department did detain the driver.

It is unknown why the driver fled the scene, but there is an ongoing investigation.
